Right now, Matrix Educational Center, Inc. already offers an extensive line-up of programs but we are continually expanding our course options so that more and more students will benefit from the abundant job market in the medical field.


Our Home Health Aide (HHA) can be completed in only 3 weeks! There are day and evening classes available for you to enroll in.

We teach students how to provide the patient with bedside care, assist in ADL, and mobility support, among others. Other topics covered in the training are:

  • Blood Pressure and Temperature Monitoring
  • Routine Care Needs (AM and PM Care)
  • Ambulation Assistance
  • Maintaining a Safe Living Environment for the Client
  • Fall Prevention
  • Simple Wound Care

Classroom and laboratory program for students who have already completed a Nursing Assistant program. Content includes, but not limited to role of Home Health Aide, communication, comfort and safety functions, legal and ethical responsibilities, nutrition, and infection control. Instruction will be provided under the supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse. Some course material to be covered:

  • Reading and recording temperature, pulse and respiration
  • Basic infection control procedures including HIV/AIDS
  • Basic element of body functions that must be reported to the RN
  • Maintenance of a clean, healthy environment, RN plans the work for H.H.A.
  • Recognizing emergencies and knowledge of emergency procedures
  • The physical, emotional and developmental characteristics of the population served
  • The needs for respect for the patients, their privacy and property
  • Appropriate and safe techniques in personal hygiene and grooming, including bathing, bed bath, sponge, tub or shower bath, nail and skin care, oral hygiene
  • Safe transfer techniques and ambulation, including safe body mechanics
  • Orientation to charting documentation and standards to provide quality patient care as an employee
  • Infant and Child care; Adequate nutrition and fluid intake; and Domestic violence

The objective of Home Health Aide is to teach students to provide personal care to patients while promoting home environment safety and support.  The Home Health Aide role is vital in assisting patients to achieve their optimal level of independence and self care when possible.

The focus of this course is basic patient care principles and the role of the nursing assistant. Once the course is completed, the student should be able to demonstrate proficiency in all skills necessary to fulfill the role of a nursing assistant. In addition, students will be able to demonstrate professional behavior and employer expectation for the nursing assistant field.

The nursing assistant course is 120 hours training consisting of classroom hours and clinical hours. The clinical portion of the training is conducted at our facility and at a long term care facility. All instruction is given by registered nurses. At the end of each course, each student should be able to demonstrate basic nursing assistant care to clients of all ages in a health or home care setting. They will be taught to perform comfort and personal care measures, and provide basic emotional, physical, psychological, and spiritual, support to clients. They will also be taught to cooperate with healthcare team members to coordinate delivery of nursing assistant care, to seek guidance when necessary, and to demonstrate skilled procedures in a safe and therapeutic manner to meet federal and state mandates.

The purpose of this program is to provide a curriculum that will give students the knowledge and capabilities necessary to become licensed as a patient care technician. They will enter the business world confident of their skills, realizing their potential for growth and achievement.

Training will involve classroom studies and demonstrations as well as practical experience with techniques being performed on mannequins or other students. At all times students will be under the supervision of a trained and qualified instructor.

The Patient Care Technician course is 600 Hours with a combination of classroom instruction, clinical lab instruction and facility in-service training.  The clinical portion of the training is conducted at our facility and at a long term care facility. This program is designed to prepare students for employment as Patient Care Technicians. This course will build on the skills already learned in Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide courses. The program will include instruction in Electrocardiography, Phlebotomy, Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide, HIV/AIDS, Domestic violence awareness and CPR.
